Spencer Housel vs Paul Merricks

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-North Carolina promoted show at Raleigh Maille, Raleigh,  taking place on 02/10/2026:

Clearly AI USA-North Carolina have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the USA-North Carolina Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Spencer Housel (4 - 9(1) - 3) who hails from Charlotte, USA and Paul Merricks(7 - 6 - 4) from Charlotte, USA.  Both Housel and Merricks weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Bryan James, and the three ringside judges are Stephen Armstrong, Kian Bourne and Richard Davies.

Merricks gets on the inside.  Housel pivots to the right of his opponent and hits home with a right uppercut.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Merricks.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.
