Leighton Newman vs Jake Cure

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Canada-Alberta promoted show at Calgary Ruxton, Calgary,  taking place on 24/11/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Canada-Alberta Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Leighton Newman (10 - 2 - 1) who hails from Calgary, Canada and Jake Cure(14 - 0) from Calgary, Canada.  Both Newman and Cure weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Connor Bonnie, and the three ringside judges are Wayne Gall, Rob Kitson and Paul Belan.  

Round 1: 

Cure is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Cure closes the distance and forces Newman to retreat into the blue corner.  Cure sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands consecutive left uppercuts to his opponents body.  
Cure steps inside and attempts to land a left hook, but Newman blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Cure walks Newman onto the ropes.  Cure lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Cure hits home with a sharp right hook.  
Cure digs in a firm right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Newman steps to the outside.  Cure connects with a cross.

Cure lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Cure lands a left hook to the head, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Cure throws a right hook, but his opponent slips the punch.  Cure holds on to his opponent.  The ref breaks Cure's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Cure is looking to close the distance.  Cure lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  Cure ties up his opponent.  Cure pushes his forearm into Newman's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Cure about fouling.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Newman dabs at his face checking for damage.
