Lao-Tzu Woong vs Yuan Poon

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at University of Science and Technology, Beijing,  taking place on 12/12/2026:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the China Super Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Lao-Tzu Woong (7 - 9 - 2) who hails from Qingdao, China and Yuan Poon(18(9) - 3(2)) from Xian, China.  Both Woong and Poon weighed in at 115 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Dewei Hsieh, and the three ringside judges are Ye Yuen, Wu-pen Zeng and Xi-Wang Sha.  

Round 1: 

Woong quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Woong steps to the outside.  Poon lands an overhand left followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Poon gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Poon closes the distance and manouvers his opponent into the corner.  Woong throws a left hook, but Poon holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Poon pushes his forearm into Woong's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Poon drives a solid left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Poon advances into close range and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  Poon clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Poon pushes his forearm into Woong's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Poon to stop fouling.  
Woong attempts to land a left hook, but Poon slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Poon steps inside.  Poon pivots from in front of his opponent and lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Woong quickly recovers. 
Woong sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Woong throws a left hook, but Poon ties up his opponent.  Poon leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Poon manouvers his opponent into the corner.  Woong throws a left hook, but Poon ties up his opponent.  Poon is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Poon is on target with a stinging left hook to his opponents body.  IT LOOKS LIKE WOONG WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Woong almost instantly recovers. 
Poon closes the distance.  Woong sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Poon hits home with a right hook.  Poon clinches his opponent.  Poon leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Poon's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Poon lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Poon lands a right hook.  
Poon lands a left uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Woong lands an overhand left.  
Poon lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  Poon holds on to his opponent.  The ref breaks Poon's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Poon sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Woong's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Woong's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.

Poon steps inside.  Woong attempts to land a left uppercut, but Poon slips the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
Poon lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Woong throws a left hook, but Poon holds on to his opponent.  Poon leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Poon's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Poon is on target with a stinging left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Poon finds the target with a sharp jab.  Poon tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Poon quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and hits home with a cross.  
Poon gets on the inside and digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents body.  
Poon walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Poon sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
The right shot from Poon could be enough to force the stoppage!  Poon lands a CRUSHING right uppercut.  WOONG IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 6.  Woong now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Poon gets on the inside.  Poon pivots to the left of his opponent.  Poon drives a stinging right hook into Woong's body.  Poon holds on to his opponent.  Poon leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Poon throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Poon forces Woong to retreat onto the ropes.  Poon sidesteps to the right of his opponent and slams a big left hook into Woong's body.  WOONG IS HURT!  Woong recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Poon hits home with a left hook.  
Poon advances into close range and lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Poon is on target with a right hook to Woong's body.  
Poon digs in a sharp right uppercut to Woong's ribcage.

Poon digs in a weighty left uppercut to Woong's ribs.  WOONG IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  HE MAKES IT TO ONE KNEE, BUT IS UNABLE TO RISE ANY FURTHER AS THE REF COUNTS 10!  The winner by KO is Poon!
