Dave McTavish vs Yasushi Okubo

Boxing Daily Report from the Katembula Promotions promoted show at Hamamatsu Ueno, Hamamatsu,  taking place on 14/12/2026:

Clearly Katembula Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Dave McTavish (6 - 0) who hails from Middlesbrough, UK and Yasushi Okubo(2 - 1 - 2) from Osaka, Japan.  Both McTavish and Okubo weighed in at 122 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Fumio Hirano, and the three ringside judges are Kei Katayama, Fumio Hirano and Akira Sanda.  

Round 1: 

Okubo tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Okubo is looking to close the distance.  McTavish sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as McTavish dabs at his face checking for damage.  
McTavish pivots from in front of his opponent and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Okubo forces McTavish to back into the ropes.  McTavish digs in a right hook to Okubo's body.  
McTavish tries to keep the action at long range.  McTavish feints a jab, tricking Okubo into throwing a left uppercut counter.  McTavish springs the trap and counters with  a left uppercut.  
Okubo steps inside.  McTavish hits home with a solid right hook.  
McTavish pivots to the side of his opponent.  Okubo connects with a left hook.  
McTavish is on target with a left uppercut.  
Okubo is looking to close the distance.  Okubo quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  McTavish hits home with a sharp right hook.  
McTavish is looking to keep the action on the outside.  McTavish feints a right, and then connects with a stinging cross.  
McTavish steps inside.  McTavish sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook, left hook and a right hook to his opponents head.  
McTavish voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Okubo steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  Okubo hits home with a right hook.
