Ben Katonon vs Quaddus Njuguna

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kisumu promoted show at Ibrahim Arafat Gym, Kisumu,  taking place on 21/12/2026:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Kenya-Kisumu Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ben Katonon (11 - 8(1) - 2) who hails from Kisumu, Kenya and Quaddus Njuguna(8 - 12 - 3) from Kisumu, Kenya.  Both Katonon and Njuguna weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Peter Kirui, and the three ringside judges are Alen Mwamzandi, Peter Kirui and Alen Mwamzandi.

Katonon quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Njuguna connects with a cross.  
Njuguna attempts to land a left uppercut, but Katonon sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Njuguna is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Katonon lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Katonon manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Njuguna lands a right uppercut.  Njuguna throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Katonon's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Katonon pivots to the right of his opponent.  Njuguna tries to land a left uppercut, but Katonon slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Katonon quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Njuguna hits home with a right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Katonon's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Njuguna's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Njuguna's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
