Evan Duane vs Karl Laidlaw

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Ireland-Connacht promoted show at Ireland-Connacht Gym, Galway,  taking place on 14/01/2027:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Irish Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Eurosport Ireland, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Evan Duane (13 - 7(2)) who hails from Dublin, Ireland and Karl Laidlaw(17(13) - 5(4)) from Galway, Ireland.  Duane weighed in at 167 pounds and 15 ounces, while Laidlaw weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Niall Monday, and the three ringside judges are Eoghan Quinlan, Eoghan Quinlan and Jordan Byrnes.  

Round 1: 

Duane is looking to keep his distance and lands a double jab to his opponents head.

Duane is looking to keep the action on the outside and tries to land a jab, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a mean cross.  IT LOOKS LIKE DUANE WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Laidlaw knows it could take just a few clean shots to force the stoppage.  Laidlaw lands two straights followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head, AND DROPS DUANE!  He manages to get up at 5.  It looks like Duane has now recovered from that shot earlier.

Duane tries to keep the action at long range.  Laidlaw contemptuously drops his hands, trying to provoke his opponent.  Duane hits home with a cross.  Duane tries to land a jab, but Laidlaw dodges the shot and counters with a firm left uppercut.  
Laidlaw lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Duane throws a left hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Laidlaw walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Laidlaw is on target with a stinging left hook.  
Laidlaw lands a straight 1 - 2.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Duane almost instantly gets his legs back.
