Cody Bratton vs Richard Merino

Boxing Daily Report from the AI USA-California promoted show at San Diego Magill, San Diego,  taking place on 01/01/2027:

Clearly AI USA-California have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Cody Bratton (1 - 0) who hails from Boulder, USA and Richard Merino(0 - 1 - 2) from Yuma, USA.  Bratton weighed in at 236 pounds and 13 ounces, while Merino weighed in at 225 pounds and 13 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Jasper Fairlie, and the three ringside judges are David Evans, John Prophet and James Keay.  

Round 1: 

Bratton steps away from his opponent.  Merino tries to land a cross, but Bratton slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Bratton is looking to close the distance.  Bratton pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Bratton lands a right hook.  
Merino attempts to land a right hook, but Bratton blocks the shot and counters with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Bratton walks Merino into a corner.  Bratton pivots to the left of his opponent.  Bratton lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  Bratton clinches his opponent.  Bratton leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Bratton's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Merino gets on the inside.  Bratton steps back and leans on the ropes with his guard up.  Merino tries to tag Bratton on the ropes, but his opponent blocks every shot!  
Bratton tries to keep the action at long range and hits home with a firm cross.  
Bratton is on target with a cross.  
Bratton connects with a solid right hook.  
Bratton is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Merino lands a cross.  
Bratton closes the distance and is on target with a left hook.  
Bratton is looking to keep his distance and lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head.  Bratton throws an overhand right, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Merino is on target with a left hook.  Bratton ties up his opponent.  Bratton is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. Merino is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Merino about fouling.  
Bratton is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands an overhand left.  
Bratton gets on the inside.  Merino throws a right hook, but Bratton holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Bratton pushes his forearm into Merino's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Bratton attempts to land a left uppercut, but Merino slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Bratton lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  He then lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Merino attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref stops the action and gives Bratton time to recover.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Merino's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Merino's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.
