Matt Waldie vs Sam Merrick

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Canterbury promoted show at Christchurch Cathey, Christchurch,  taking place on 19/01/2027:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand Light Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Matt Waldie (18 - 2) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Sam Merrick(6 - 9 - 3) from Hamilton, New Zealand.  Both Waldie and Merrick weighed in at 108 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Michael Breck, and the three ringside judges are Ruki Kohu, Ian Webb and Ian Fergerson.
