Odilon Mendy vs Russel Tew

Boxing Daily Report from the Wigwam Promotions promoted show at Stade de Diaraf, Dakar,  taking place on 30/01/2027:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Odilon Mendy (20 - 1) who hails from Pikine, Senegal and Russel Tew(3 - 3 - 2) from Dakar, Senegal.  Mendy weighed in at 160 pounds, while Tew weighed in at 159 pounds and 12 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Yves Diedhiou, and the three ringside judges are Gaston Ndong, Royal Ankah and Rush de Brosse.  

Round 1: 

Mendy closes the distance and connects with a left hook.  
Mendy lands a left hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a right hook to the head.  
Mendy is on target with a left hook.  Mendy holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Mendy pushes his forearm into Tew's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Mendy.  
Tew steps to the outside.  Tew feints a jab, but Mendy is not fooled and is on target with a left hook to Tew's body.  
Tew tries to step out of his opponents range.  Mendy lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.  
Mendy attempts to land a jab, but Tew slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Mendy closes the distance.  Mendy sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Tew throws a right hook, but the shot is blocked.  Mendy clinches his opponent.  Mendy leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Mendy closes the distance and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Mendy lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Tew pivots from in front of his opponent.  Mendy lands a left uppercut.  
Mendy pivots to the side of his opponent and hits home with a stinging left hook.  
Mendy steps inside and digs in a solid right hook to Tew's body.  
Mendy sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Mendy feints a left hook, and then lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Tew's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Tew's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Mendy throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Mendy steps inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Mendy steps inside and hits home with a left uppercut.  Mendy tries to land a left hook, but Tew slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Tew tries to keep the action at long range.  Mendy sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a jab.
