Joey Saam vs Mohsin Ahmed

Boxing Daily Report from the Smoking Joe promoted show at Jenny Craig Pavilion, San Diego,  taking place on 10/03/2027:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Joey Saam (14(10) - 0) who hails from Cleveland, USA and Mohsin Ahmed(15 - 3 - 1) from Amman, Jordan.  Saam weighed in at 134 pounds and 15 ounces, while Ahmed weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Waleed Naqvi, and the three ringside judges are Josh Butchart, Kenzie Bryce and Bradley Fortun.  

Round 1: 

Saam steps to the outside and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a double jab to his opponents head.

Ahmed gets on the inside and manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Ahmed tries to land a right uppercut, but Saam sidesteps and counters with a sharp right uppercut.  
Saam tries to step out of his opponents range and lands an overhand right followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Ahmed advances into close range.  Saam tries to land a right hook, but Ahmed blocks the shot and counters with a sharp cross.  
Saam steps away from his opponent.  Ahmed hits home with an overhand right.  
Saam lands a cross to the head, a left hook to the body and a jab to the head.  
Ahmed steps inside and throws a right hook, but Saam ties up his opponent.  Ahmed pushes his forearm into Saam's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Ahmed to stop fouling.  
Saam tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a solid cross to Ahmed's body.  
Saam hits home with a firm left hook.

Ahmed gets on the inside and throws a left uppercut, but Saam holds on to his opponent.  Saam pushes his forearm into Ahmed's face.  The ref breaks Saam's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Saam steps to the outside and SLAMS a MASSIVE cross into his opponents face.  IT LOOKS LIKE AHMED WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  
Saam steps inside.  Saam senses his opponent is hurt.  He is looking to stop Ahmed and just needs the right shot.  Saam lands a right uppercut followed by a left uppercut to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  Ahmed now seems to have got his legs back.  
Ahmed steps inside.  Saam digs in a solid left hook to Ahmed's body.  
Ahmed hits home with a cross.  
Ahmed walks Saam down, trapping him on the ropes.  Ahmed throws a left uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid right hook.  
Ahmed lands with a hard jab.  
Saam hits home with a left hook.  
Saam steps away from his opponent and hits home with a solid cross.  
Saam sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Ahmed is on target with a jab.

Ahmed steps inside and cuts off the ring, trapping Saam on the ropes.  Some sustained pressure from Saam could be enough to finish Ahmed!  Saam lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS AHMED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
At the end of Round 5, lets listen in on the corners...Ahmed's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.
