Grant Rubel vs Jemond Zanga

Boxing Daily Report from the African Fusion promoted show at Palais de la Culture Anoumabo Hall, Abidjan,  taking place on 04/03/2027:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on RTI Sport TV, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Grant Rubel (1 - 1) who hails from Abobo, Ivory Coast and Jemond Zanga(5 - 12 - 1) from Douala, Cameroon.  Rubel weighed in at 111 pounds and 6 ounces, while Zanga weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Barbabe Pradon, and the three ringside judges are Reinald Gillard, Ames Notte and Verrill Oberlin.  

Round 1: 

Zanga walks his opponent down, trapping him in the corner.  Rubel lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Rubel steps away from his opponent.  Rubel feints a left, and then hits home with a cross.  
Rubel switches the action to the outside and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Rubel lands three consecutive jabs to his opponents head.  
Rubel is looking to close the distance and hits home with a solid right uppercut.  
Zanga advances into close range.  Rubel lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Rubel throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Rubel holds on to his opponent.  Rubel is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Rubel to stop fouling.

Rubel gets on the inside.  Rubel sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Zanga throws a left hook, but Rubel ties up his opponent.  Zanga pushes his forearm into Rubel's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rubel's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Zanga's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Zanga's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.
