Olindo Avena vs Rob Gilliland

Boxing Daily Report from the Showtime Promotions promoted show at Showtime Gym, Miami,  taking place on 16/04/2027:

Clearly Showtime Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 4 round matchup are Olindo Avena (0 - 0) who hails from Tampa, USA and Rob Gilliland(0 - 1) from Nassau, Bahamas.  Avena weighed in at 168 pounds, while Gilliland weighed in at 167 pounds And 13 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Mark Pettry, and the three ringside judges are Sam Matteson, Xaverius Guerra and Zachary Headden.  

Round 1: 

Gilliland pivots from in front of his opponent.  Avena connects with a firm right uppercut.  
Avena advances into close range and is on target with a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Avena is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  Avena clinches his opponent.  Avena is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Avena and breaks the clinch.  
Avena gets on the inside.  Avena digs in a right uppercut to Gilliland's body.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Avena dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Avena closes the distance.  Gilliland pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a right hook.  
Avena lands a cross to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Avena gets on the inside and attempts to land a left hook, but Gilliland sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Gilliland is looking to keep the action on the outside and connects with a cross.  
Avena gets on the inside and is on target with a left hook to Gilliland's body.  
Avena steps inside and hits home with a stinging right uppercut.  
Avena quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Gilliland throws a right uppercut, but Avena holds on to his opponent.  Avena is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Avena steps inside and drives a firm left uppercut into his opponents liver.  
Avena connects with a left uppercut.

Avena steps inside.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Avena.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Avena is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Avena gets on the inside and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Avena lands a right hook to the body, a left uppercut to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Gilliland steps to the outside and lands an overhand right.  
Avena is on target with a firm left uppercut.  
Avena lands a cross.  
Gilliland finds the target with a jab.  Gilliland attempts to land a right hook, but Avena slips the shot and counters with a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Avena lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Avena pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Avena lands a right hook.  Avena holds on to his opponent.  Avena is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Avena's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Gilliland pivots to the left of his opponent and connects with a cross.  
Avena steps inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.

Avena manouvers Gilliland onto the ropes.  Gilliland throws a left hook, but Avena ties up his opponent.  Avena is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Avena's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Avena throws a left uppercut, but is unable to find the target.  Avena ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Avena pushes his forearm into Gilliland's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Avena about fouling.  
Gilliland steps to the outside.  Avena feints a cross, but Gilliland ignores the feint and lands with a right uppercut.  
Avena walks his opponent into the red corner.  Avena lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
At the end of Round 3, lets listen in on the corners...Gilliland's trainer is telling his fighter to go out and knock out his opponent!
