Odilon Mendy vs Georges Oran

Boxing Daily Report from the Wigwam Promotions promoted show at Stade de Diaraf, Dakar,  taking place on 23/05/2027:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Odilon Mendy (22 - 1) who hails from Pikine, Senegal and Georges Oran(13 - 10) from Dakar, Senegal.  Both Mendy and Oran weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Acelin Badji, and the three ringside judges are Aramis Gassama, Reinald Mbow and Gaston Ndong.  

Round 1: 

Mendy pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Mendy manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Mendy quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Mendy tries to land a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Mendy steps inside.  Oran throws a right uppercut, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Mendy steps inside and is on target with a left hook.  
Mendy sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a jab.  
Mendy lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Mendy lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Mendy steps inside and lands a right hook.  
Mendy steps inside.  Mendy pivots to the right of his opponent.  Mendy digs in a right hook to Oran's body.  Mendy attempts to land a right uppercut, but Oran slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Oran throws a cross, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Mendy advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Mendy feints a right hook, and then is on target with a jab.  
Oran is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Mendy lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.

Mendy closes the distance and cuts off the ring, trapping Oran on the ropes.  Mendy sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
Mendy is looking to close the distance.  Mendy pivots from in front of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.  
Mendy closes the distance and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Oran's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Oran's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Oran's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Mendy gets on the inside.  Mendy sidesteps to the right of his opponent and digs in a right hook to his opponents body.  
Mendy pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Mendy pivots to the left of his opponent and drives a left hook into Oran's liver.  
Mendy sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a cross.  
Mendy lands a right hook.  
Oran tries to land a cross, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left uppercut to his opponents liver.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Oran has taken some damage there.  That has caused bad swelling  around the right eye.
