Seung-gyu Yong vs Tae-hwi Shon

Boxing Daily Report from the Faress Promotions promoted show at Yeonji Hall, Jeonju,  taking place on 07/06/2027:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight is the South Korea-Gyeonggi Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Seung-gyu Yong (19(10) - 2) who hails from Ansan, South Korea and Tae-hwi Shon(11 - 7 - 1) from Goyang, South Korea.  Yong weighed in at 112 pounds, while Shon weighed in at 111 pounds and 5 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Kook-young Pai, and the three ringside judges are Jong-ho Bae, Bum-young Kwak and Dong-won Sok.  

Round 1: 

Yong gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the head.  Yong ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Yong pushes his forearm into Shon's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Yong about fouling.  
Yong closes the distance and is on target with a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  Yong clinches his opponent.  Yong hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Yong advances into close range.  Yong quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Shon throws a left hook, but Yong clinches his opponent.  Yong leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Yong is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Yong steps inside and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Yong lands with a solid jab.  
Shon switches the action to the outside.  Yong hits the target with a ramrod jab.  
Yong lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Shon feints a cross, but Yong is not fooled and is on target with a sharp left uppercut to his opponents liver.

Yong throws a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps.  Yong ties up his opponent.  Yong is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Yong cuts off the ring, trapping Shon on the ropes.  Yong lands a right hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Yong gets on the inside and lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Yong is looking to close the distance and drives a right hook into Shon's ribcage.

Yong steps inside and lands a left hook to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Yong clinches his opponent.  Yong throws a hook within the clinch but hits his opponent behind the head. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Yong to stop fouling.  
Shon switches the action to the outside.  Yong hits home with a cross.  
Shon steps away from his opponent.  Yong lands a ramrod jab.  
Yong is looking to close the distance.  Shon pivots from in front of his opponent.  Shon throws a right hook, but Yong ties up his opponent.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Yong lands a jab to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Yong lands a hard jab.  
Shon manages to force Yong onto the ropes.  Shon pivots from in front of his opponent.  Shon attempts to land a jab, but Yong blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.

Yong lands a right uppercut to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body, KNOCKING SHON DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  
Yong crashes a mean right hook to his opponents body.  Shon now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Shon dabs at his face checking for damage.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Shon.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.

Yong advances into close range and manages to force Shon into the red corner.  Yong drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  Yong throws a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Yong advances into close range and digs in a left hook to Shon's body.  
Yong is looking to close the distance and throws a right hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Shon steps away from his opponent.  Yong lands a cross to the body, a cross to the head and a jab to the head.

Yong is looking to close the distance and is on target with a sharp right hook.

Shon is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Yong lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Shon has taken some damage from that accidental headbutt.  The foul has worsened the damage  around the left eye.

Yong steps inside and is on target with a right hook to Shon's body.  
Yong lands a right hook to the head followed by a right uppercut to the body.  
Yong throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Yong lands with a hard jab.  
Yong is on target with a FIERCE left hook.  SHON IS HURT!  
Shon could be stopped here, if Yong can find the right shot!  Yong lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  He continues the combination and lands a right uppercut to the head, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the body.  Shon now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Yong closes the distance and drives a stinging right hook into Shon's ribcage.  
Shon throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Yong lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs, AND KNOCKS SHON DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 5.  Shon recovers before his opponent can take advantage.

Yong lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Yong is looking for the shot to finish his opponent.  Yong lands a left uppercut to the body, a right uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  Shon is not able to stop any of these shots...he looks in trouble...the ref steps in and stops the action!  He says its over!  The winner by TKO is Yong!
