Ricky Boas vs Mardian Roussel

Boxing Daily Report from the Basemera Promotions promoted show at Laval Papineau, Laval,  taking place on 16/06/2027:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Canada-Quebec Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Ricky Boas (12(2) - 5 - 1) who hails from Montreal, Canada and Mardian Roussel(19 - 7(2) - 1) from Montreal, Canada.  Both Boas and Roussel weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Elliot Girardot, and the three ringside judges are Bruce Hathorne, Laurent Marceau and Johnny Smith.  

Round 1: 

Boas is on target with a cross.  
Boas gets on the inside.  Boas sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  
Boas advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Boas lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Boas clinches his opponent.  Boas pushes his forearm into Roussel's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Boas.  
Roussel lands a left uppercut.  
Roussel pivots from in front of his opponent.  Boas lands a firm left hook.  
Boas hits home with a solid left hook.  Boas clinches his opponent.  Boas uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Roussel behind the head. The referee warns Boas and breaks the clinch.  
Boas lands a left hook.  
Boas drives a left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Boas lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  Boas ties up his opponent.  Boas leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Boas is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
Boas is on target with a right hook to Roussel's ribcage.  Boas holds on to his opponent.  Boas tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Roussel behind the head. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Boas about fouling.  
Boas lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
Roussel tries to step out of his opponents range.  Boas lands an overhand right.  
Roussel is on target with a cross.  
Roussel hits home with a cross.  
Roussel cuts off the ring, trapping Boas on the ropes.  Roussel finds the target with a jab.  
Boas drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  
Boas gets on the inside and drives a sharp left hook into Roussel's liver.  
Boas gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Roussel tries to keep the action at long range.  Boas feints a jab and triggers a cross counter from Roussel.  Boas springs the trap, countering with  a firm right hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Roussel's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Roussel's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Boas quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Boas digs in a solid left hook to his opponents body.  Boas ties up his opponent.  Boas leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Roussel is looking to keep his distance.  Boas lands two straights to the body, and one to the head.  
Boas is looking to close the distance and walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Boas sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  
Boas lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Boas attempts to land a right hook, but Roussel blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.

The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Roussel dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Roussel hits home with a cross.  
Boas digs in a left hook to his opponents ribs.  
Boas is looking to close the distance and lands a left uppercut followed by  two left hooks to his opponents body.  
Boas lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  He then lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Roussel tries to keep the action at long range.  Boas lands a straight 1 - 2, AND ROUSSEL IS KNOCKED DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.
