Leighton Newman vs Leon Raith

Boxing Daily Report from the Namugerwa Promotions promoted show at Vincent Kane Gym, Calgary,  taking place on 14/08/2027:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the Canada-Alberta Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Leighton Newman (11 - 3 - 1) who hails from Calgary, Canada and Leon Raith(14 - 0) from Calgary, Canada.  Both Newman and Raith weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Rob Kitson, and the three ringside judges are Sean Camlin, Chris Crear and Charles Wardrop.  

Round 1: 

Newman is on target with a jab.  
Raith advances into close range and hits home with a left hook.  
Raith lands a cross followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Raith manouvers his opponent into a corner.  Raith drives a left hook into his opponents body.

Raith manouvers Newman into a neutral corner.  Raith pivots to the left of his opponent and is on target with a right hook to Newman's body.  
Raith quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  He then lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Raith sidesteps to the left of his opponent and hits home with a solid left uppercut.  
Raith lands a double right hook to his opponents head.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Newman.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Raith is on target with a cross.  
Raith pivots from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook to the head followed by two left uppercut's to the body.  
Newman finds the target with a jab.  
Raith steps inside and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Raith digs in a right hook to Newman's ribs.

As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Newman has come off worse after that clash of heads.  The foul has worsened the damage  around the left eye.
