Juan Vargas vs Alejandro Mallen

Boxing Daily Report from the Eduardo Zambrano promoted show at Santiago Manas Gym, Maracay,  taking place on 02/09/2027:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Venezuela-Aragua Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Juan Vargas (5 - 6(1) - 5) who hails from Turmero, Venezuela and Alejandro Mallen(12 - 6 - 3) from Maracay, Venezuela.  Both Vargas and Mallen weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Santiago Camarillo, and the three ringside judges are Alejandro Laurel, Montana Amado and Urvano Moscoso.  

Round 1: 

Vargas is looking to close the distance and tries to land a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.

Mallen is looking to keep the action on the outside and hits home with a cross.  
Mallen digs in a left hook to Vargas's ribs.  Mallen throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref ignores Vargas's complaints and signals for the action to continue.
