Zachary Wood vs Neil Pera

Boxing Daily Report from the JSW promoted show at Olympic Park Stadium, Melbourne,  taking place on 15/01/2028:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Oceania Super Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Fox Sports, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Zachary Wood (17(7) - 1) who hails from Perth, Australia and Neil Pera(16 - 7 - 2) from Auckland, New Zealand.  Both Wood and Pera weighed in at 122 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Malcolm Hanken, and the three ringside judges are Obaid Kamali, Ricky Gebbie and Jake Denniston.  

Round 1: 

Wood lands with a hard jab.  
Wood is on target with a sharp jab.  
Wood advances into close range and lands a right hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  THAT HURT HIS OPPONENT!  Pera recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Wood closes the distance and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.

Wood closes the distance.  Pera attempts to land a left uppercut, but Wood sidesteps and counters with a solid right hook.  
Wood drives a sharp right hook into his opponents body.  
Pera steps to the outside.  Wood feints a left, and then connects with a stinging cross.  
Pera throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Pera is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Pera sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Wood lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Pera is on target with a right uppercut to Wood's ribs.  
Pera tries to step out of his opponents range.  Wood is on target with a firm cross.  
Wood lands a solid jab.  
Wood gets on the inside.  Wood sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.

Pera now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
Wood walks Pera into the corner.  Wood slams a mean left hook into his opponents body.  PERA WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Pera quickly recovers. 
Wood digs in a sharp right uppercut to his opponents body.  Wood throws a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Wood drives a left hook into Pera's body.

Wood steps inside and connects with a stinging left hook.  
Pera drives a cross into Wood's body.  
Wood closes the distance and is on target with a weighty right uppercut to his opponents ribcage.  IT LOOKS LIKE PERA WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Pera almost instantly recovers. 
Wood lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs, DROPPING PERA TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  
Wood feints a jab, and then hits home with a ramrod jab.  
Wood lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Pera finds the target with a jab.  
Pera sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Wood is on target with a cross.  
Wood advances into close range and lands a left hook to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Wood throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Wood holds on to his opponent.  Wood is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Wood.  
Wood lands a cross.  
Wood advances into close range and digs in a stinging right uppercut to Pera's body.  
Wood feints a jab, fooling Pera into launching a left uppercut counter.  Wood is waiting for the shot and counters with a cross.  
Wood advances into close range and lands a left uppercut to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the head.  
Wood sidesteps to the left of his opponent and digs in a weighty left hook to his opponents body.  PERA IS DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 7.  
Pera forces Wood to back into the ropes.  Wood lands a right hook to the body, a left hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Pera is looking to keep his distance.  Wood lands a ramrod jab.
