Colin Gove vs Robert Hinojos

Boxing Daily Report from the North Star Boxing promoted show at Oxnard Performing Arts Center, Oxnard,  taking place on 27/03/2028:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a mandatory fight for the USA-California Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Colin Gove (20(8) - 0) who hails from Long Beach, USA and Robert Hinojos(17 - 6(2) - 4) from Huntington Beach, USA.  Both Gove and Hinojos weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Hayden Abraham, and the three ringside judges are Noel Bertram, Mark Pizarro and Gazi Pasha.  

Round 1: 

Gove steps away from his opponent and lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Gove lands a jab, overhand right and a jab to his opponents head.  
Gove is on target with a firm overhand right.  
Gove is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  
Hinojos is looking to close the distance.  Gove pivots from in front of his opponent.  Gove connects with a stinging right hook.  Gove holds on to his opponent.  Gove pushes his forearm into Hinojos's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Gove.  
Hinojos walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Hinojos sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Gove connects with a solid left hook.  
Hinojos gets on the inside.  Gove sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Gove lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Gove holds on to his opponent.  Gove uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Hinojos behind the head. Hinojos quickly recovers. 
Gove steps away from his opponent.  Hinojos throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.  
Hinojos steps inside and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Hinojos pivots to the side of his opponent.  Gove is on target with a sharp right hook to his opponents body.  
Gove feints a jab, but Hinojos is not fooled and lands with a cross.  
Gove lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Gove steps away from his opponent.  Gove feints a right, and then lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Hinojos walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Gove connects with a sharp right hook.  
Hinojos gets on the inside.  Gove lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  Gove clinches his opponent.  Gove leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Gove's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Gove steps to the outside and lands an overhand right.  
Gove is on target with a hard jab.  
Gove steps away from his opponent and hits home with a firm overhand right.  
Gove feints a right, and then lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Gove is looking to keep the action on the outside and is on target with a stinging cross to Hinojos's body.  
Gove lands a left hook followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Gove is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands an overhand right, jab and a cross to his opponents head.

Hinojos steps inside.  Gove lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Gove steps to the outside and lands a jab, cross and a jab to his opponents head.  
Gove feints a left, and then lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.

Gove feints a cross, fooling Hinojos into throwing a right hook counter.  Gove springs the trap and counters with  a sharp cross.
