Vegas Matas vs Neper Conejo

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Mexico-Nuevo Leon promoted show at Ovidio Carcamo Gym, San Nicolas de los Garza,  taking place on 26/01/2028:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Mexico Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on TVC Deportes, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Vegas Matas (14(3) - 6(2) - 1) who hails from Guadalupe, Mexico and Neper Conejo(10 - 9 - 1) from Guadalajara, Mexico.  Both Matas and Conejo weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Porfio Bosque, and the three ringside judges are Onofre Medero, Neper Carabello and Angel Talavera.  

Round 1: 

Matas closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Matas clinches his opponent.  Matas is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Matas.  
Matas finds the target with a jab.  
Matas steps inside and lands a left uppercut to the head, a right hook to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Matas sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Conejo quickly recovers. 
Conejo pivots to the left of his opponent.  Conejo throws a left hook, but Matas holds on to his opponent.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Matas manouvers Conejo into the corner.  Matas drives a right hook into Conejo's ribcage.  
Matas is on target with a left uppercut to Conejo's body.  
Matas digs in a stinging left hook to Conejo's liver.  
Matas is on target with a sharp left uppercut.  
Matas lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Conejo steps to the outside and finds the target with a jab.

Matas tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Conejo behind the head. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Matas.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Conejo's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Conejo's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Conejo's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
