Kyo Shoda vs Kyo Sugawara

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Japan-Tokyo promoted show at Tokyo Sekiguchi, Tokyo,  taking place on 11/02/2028:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Japan-Tokyo Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Sky-A Sports, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Kyo Shoda (12 - 9 - 1) who hails from Tokyo, Japan and Kyo Sugawara(7 - 5) from Tokyo, Japan.  Both Shoda and Sugawara weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Nori Tamanaha, and the three ringside judges are Hisoka Yamamoto, Yuji Ohta and Akira Kishimoto.  

Round 1: 

Shoda gets on the inside.  Shoda pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Sugawara steps away from his opponent.  Sugawara quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Sugawara tries to land a jab, but Shoda blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Sugawara is on target with an overhand left.

Shoda advances into close range and manouvers Sugawara into the corner.  Shoda is on target with a right uppercut.

Sugawara switches the action to the outside.  Shoda sidesteps to the right of his opponent and finds the target with a jab.  
Shoda gets on the inside and tries to land a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Shoda is looking to close the distance.  Shoda voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Sugawara steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.
