Sammy Wight vs John McBryde

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Sunshine Coast Stadium, Sunshine Coast,  taking place on 06/05/2028:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight is the WRBO Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on SBS1, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Sammy The Brisbane Bomber Wight (30(19) - 1) who hails from Adelaide, Australia and John McBryde(26(7) - 3(2)) from Melbourne, Australia.  Both Wight and McBryde weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Neil McAllaster, and the three ringside judges are Steven Candreva, Hugh Durie and Ian Norris.  

Round 1: 

McBryde lands a jab to the body, and then to the head.  
Wight gets on the inside.  McBryde tries to land a left uppercut, but Wight sidesteps and counters with a sharp right hook.  
Wight is looking to close the distance.  McBryde lands a left hook.  
Wight closes the distance.  McBryde throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp left hook.  
McBryde hits home with a right hook.  
Wight digs in a firm left hook to his opponents body.

Wight steps inside.  McBryde tries to land a left hook, but Wight blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Wight throws a right uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

Wight steps inside.  McBryde pivots to the left of his opponent.  Wight lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.

Wight walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Wight drives a firm right hook into his opponents body.  Wight attempts to land a left uppercut, but McBryde blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
McBryde lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Wight gets on the inside and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  Wight clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Wight pushes his forearm into McBryde's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Wight drives a stinging left uppercut into McBryde's body.  Wight attempts to land a left hook, but McBryde slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Wight attempts to land a left hook, but McBryde dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Wight walks McBryde onto the ropes.  McBryde lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
McBryde tries to land a right hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid right uppercut.  
McBryde throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a solid cross.  
McBryde quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  McBryde attempts to land a left hook, but Wight blocks the shot and counters with a FEROCIOUS right hook.  MCBRYDE IS HURT!  
Wight thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put McBryde away.  Wight EXPLODES a WICKED cross into his opponents face.  MCBRYDE IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is back up on his feet at 5.  
Wight lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head, AND SENDS MCBRYDE TO THE CANVAS!  The count reaches 10, but McBryde is unable to get up!  The winner by KO is Wight!
