Pedro Fiel vs Rico Meraz

Boxing Daily Report from the Maphatsoe Promotions promoted show at La Paz Gallego, La Paz,  taking place on 17/03/2028:

Clearly Maphatsoe Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Pedro Fiel (4(1) - 0) who hails from La Paz, Bolivia and Rico Meraz(0 - 4 - 2) from Cochabamba, Bolivia.  Both Fiel and Meraz weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Guillermo Sierra, and the three ringside judges are Luis Zendejas, Santiago Reyes and Bronco Cossio.

Meraz closes the distance.  Fiel pivots to the right of his opponent.  Fiel throws a right hook, but his opponent avoids the punch.  Fiel clinches his opponent.  Fiel is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Fiel to stop fouling.  
Fiel pivots to the side of his opponent.  Fiel is on target with a stinging right hook to Meraz's ribcage.  Fiel clinches his opponent.  Fiel leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Fiel's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Fiel is looking to keep the action on the outside and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Fiel feints a jab, tricking Meraz into countering with a cross.  Fiel springs the trap, countering with  a solid right hook to Meraz's ribcage.  
Fiel steps away from his opponent and connects with an overhand right.  
Fiel lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  
Fiel lands a jab, cross and a jab to his opponents head.  
Fiel feints a left, and then lands a straight 1 - 2.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Meraz's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Meraz's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Meraz's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Meraz's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

He steps in close and strikes his opponent with a blatant headbutt!  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  The ref separates the two fighters and tells Meraz to watch his head.  He gives Fiel a few minutes to recover.  
Fiel switches the action to the outside and lands an overhand right to the head followed by a jab to the body.  
Meraz advances into close range and throws a left hook, but Fiel ties up his opponent.  Fiel leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Meraz uses his free hand to throw a body hook, but it lands on Fiel's kidney.
