Brett Riddick vs Chris Lawson

Boxing Daily Report from the T5 Promotions promoted show at Auckland Ghant, Auckland,  taking place on 26/03/2028:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the New Zealand-Auckland Cruiserweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Brett Riddick (14(5) - 0) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Chris Lawson(16 - 4(1) - 1) from Auckland, New Zealand.  Riddick weighed in at 200 pounds, while Lawson weighed in at 199 pounds and 4 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Justin Patariki, and the three ringside judges are Bryan Swineford, Rob Horsburgh and Ollie Scobie.  

Round 1:

Lawson gets on the inside and lands a left hook.  Lawson throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a sharp right uppercut.  
Riddick lands a jab followed by a overhand right to his opponents head.  He then lands three consecutive straights to his opponents head.

Riddick tries to keep the action at long range.  Riddick sidesteps to the left of his opponent and EXPLODES a WICKED cross into his opponents face.  LAWSON IS HURT!  Lawson quickly recovers. 
Lawson manouvers Riddick into a corner.  Riddick is on target with a right hook.  Riddick ties up his opponent.  Lawson leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Lawson throws a left uppercut, but Riddick holds on to his opponent.  Riddick pushes his forearm into Lawson's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Riddick steps away from his opponent and lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.  He follows up the attack and lands a cross, overhand left and a jab to his opponents head.

Lawson steps inside.  Riddick wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    It looks like the clash of heads has caused some damage to Lawson.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Lawson gets on the inside.  Riddick throws a right hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a cross.  
Lawson drives a right hook into Riddick's ribcage.  
Riddick switches the action to the outside and lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head.

The foul has worsened the damage  around the left eye.
