Jack Puku vs David Hoy

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Canterbury promoted show at Christchurch Dunstan, Christchurch,  taking place on 23/04/2028:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the New Zealand-Canterbury Super Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jack Puku (7 - 5 - 1) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and David Hoy(7 - 9 - 4) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Both Puku and Hoy weighed in at 130 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Hohepa Marino, and the three ringside judges are David Neild, Noel Haxton and Mark Atchison.  

Round 1: 

Hoy lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Hoy manouvers Puku into a corner.  Hoy lands a right hook.  
Puku digs in a right hook to Hoy's body.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Puku dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Puku tries to keep the action at long range.  Puku feints a right, and then lands an overhand left.  
Hoy steps inside.  Puku pivots to the right of his opponent.  Hoy connects with a right hook.  
Hoy throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Hoy is looking to close the distance and hits home with a left hook.  
Hoy finds the target with a jab.  
Hoy is looking to close the distance.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Puku dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Puku's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.

Puku pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a cross.

Puku voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Hoy steps in throwing power shots but is unable to land cleanly.  
Hoy wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Puku.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.  
Hoy advances into close range and hits home with a right hook.  
Puku is on target with a left uppercut to Hoy's body.  
Hoy strikes his opponents body with a cross.  
Hoy attempts to land a cross, but Puku dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.
