Mel Sogno vs Floyd Brunton

Boxing Daily Report from the Howe Out promoted show at Luna Park Big Top, Sydney,  taking place on 22/05/2028:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on WIN, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Mel Sogno (5(1) - 0 - 1) who hails from Brisbane, Australia and Floyd Brunton(2 - 1 - 3) from Sydney, Australia.  Both Sogno and Brunton weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Richard Bean, and the three ringside judges are Ian MacKellar, Chris Lobban and David Corrie.  

Round 1: 

Sogno feints a left, and then lands a firm left hook.  Sogno throws a cross, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right hook.

Sogno digs in a left hook to Brunton's body.  Sogno clinches his opponent.  Sogno is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Sogno.  
Sogno closes the distance and lands a left hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents body.  Sogno clinches his opponent.  Sogno leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Sogno sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Brunton hits home with a right hook.

Brunton steps away from his opponent.  Sogno finds the target with a jab.  
Sogno gets on the inside and walks Brunton down, trapping him in the corner.  Sogno pivots to the side of his opponent and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Brunton attempts to land a right hook, but Sogno slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Sogno advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Sogno connects with a left uppercut.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Brunton dabs at his face checking for damage.

Sogno steps inside and forces Brunton to back into the ropes.  Sogno sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook to the head, a right uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.  
Sogno is on target with a cross.  
Sogno closes the distance.  Sogno sidesteps to the right of his opponent and lands two consecutive right uppercuts to his opponents head.  
Sogno advances into close range and lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the head and a left hook to the head.  
Sogno advances into close range and forces Brunton to retreat into a corner.  Sogno pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Brunton.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.
