Brett McWhinnie vs Paul Kilbride

Boxing Daily Report from the Howe Out promoted show at Luna Park Big Top, Sydney,  taking place on 22/05/2028:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Australia Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on WIN, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Brett McWhinnie (11 - 1) who hails from Melbourne, Australia and Paul Kilbride(22(2) - 5(1) - 1) from Brisbane, Australia.  Both McWhinnie and Kilbride weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ian MacKellar, and the three ringside judges are Chris Lobban, Richard Bean and David Corrie.  

Round 1: 

McWhinnie lands an overhand left followed by a jab to his opponents head.  McWhinnie throws an overhand right, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
McWhinnie is on target with a solid jab.  
Kilbride lands two right uppercuts to the body, and one to the head.  
Kilbride sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  McWhinnie tries to land a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm right uppercut to McWhinnie's body.  
Kilbride connects with a right uppercut.  As Kilbride tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as McWhinnie dabs at his face checking for damage.  
McWhinnie connects with a cross.  
Kilbride gets on the inside.  McWhinnie throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a stinging left hook.  
McWhinnie steps away from his opponent.  Kilbride attempts to land a cross, but McWhinnie blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.
