Joey Saam vs Ray Barra

Boxing Daily Report from the Smoking Joe promoted show at Honda Center, Anaheim,  taking place on 02/11/2028:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Joey Saam (22(18) - 0) who hails from Cleveland, USA and Ray Barra(18 - 3(1) - 1) from Anderlecht, Belgium.  Both Saam and Barra weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Ethan Queen, and the three ringside judges are Cris Villagomez, Ian Woodhead and Sam Leamon.  

Round 1: 

Saam gets on the inside and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Saam holds on to his opponent.  Barra is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. As they grapple, Saam pushes his forearm into Barra's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  Saam throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Saam advances into close range and drives a right hook into his opponents ribcage.  
Barra sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Saam lands a left hook.  
Saam walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Barra hits home with a right hook.  
Saam digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents body.  
Barra tries to land a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a sharp right uppercut.  
Barra connects with a left uppercut.  Saam clinches his opponent.  Barra pushes his forearm into Saam's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Saam lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Saam ties up his opponent.  Barra is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref separates the two fighters.

Saam manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Saam is on target with a solid right hook to Barra's ribs.  As Barra tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Saam dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Saam sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Saam hits home with a right hook.  Saam clinches his opponent.  Saam tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Barra's kidney. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Barra lands a right hook.  
Barra lowers his hands, trying to provoke his opponent to attack.  Saam attempts to land a jab, but Barra blocks the shot and counters with a cross.  
Barra is looking to keep his distance and lands a cross.  
Saam steps inside and hits home with a left hook.  
Saam feints a cross, and then digs in a solid left hook to his opponents body.  
Saam steps inside.  Barra pivots to the left of his opponent.  Barra connects with a right hook.  Barra tries to land a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Barra feints a right hook, and then lands a jab.  
Saam lands a sharp cross.  
Saam quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Barra lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Barra lands a jab followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Saam closes the distance.  Saam sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Saam lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Saam attempts to land a left hook, but Barra blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Saam digs in a solid left hook to his opponents body.  Saam clinches his opponent.  Saam leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Saam's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Barra's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.

Barra manages to force Saam onto the ropes.  Barra hits home with a sharp jab.  
Saam sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Barra attempts to land a jab, but Saam sidesteps and counters with a sharp right uppercut.
