Michael Makara vs Shaun Matheson

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Wellington promoted show at Wellington Ngataierua, Wellington,  taking place on 27/10/2028:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the New Zealand-Wellington Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Michael Makara (10(2) - 2) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Shaun Matheson(6 - 17 - 2) from Wellington, New Zealand.  Both Makara and Matheson weighed in at 160 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Oraora Pareraukawa, and the three ringside judges are Jonathan Laurie, Mark Dew and Mel Binner.  

Round 1: 

Matheson throws a right hook, but Makara holds on to his opponent.  Makara pushes his forearm into Matheson's face.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Makara digs in a left hook to Matheson's body.  Makara attempts to land a right hook, but Matheson sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Makara.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Matheson's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Matheson's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Matheson's trainer is advising how he could improve his defence.
