Mark Murungaru vs Mason Akhasamba

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kisumu promoted show at Mark Aiyabei Gym, Kisumu,  taking place on 24/12/2028:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Kenya-Kisumu Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mark Murungaru (9 - 13(1) - 6) who hails from Kisumu, Kenya and Mason Akhasamba(7 - 2(1) - 1) from Kisumu, Kenya.  Both Murungaru and Akhasamba weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Kendis Rimbui, and the three ringside judges are Mick Mutu, Mark Lavatsa and Udenwa Lalang.  

Round 1: 

Murungaru quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Akhasamba finds the target with a jab.  
Akhasamba is looking to close the distance.  Akhasamba pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a left hook.

Akhasamba gets on the inside.  Murungaru connects with a left uppercut.  
As Murungaru tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Akhasamba dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Murungaru attempts to land a cross, but Akhasamba parries the shot and counters with a right uppercut.
