Brian Pugh vs Ed MacGuire

Boxing Daily Report from the Kurusu Promotions promoted show at O2 Academy, Glasgow,  taking place on 15/03/2029:

Clearly Kurusu Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the British-Scotland Super Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Undefeated Brian Pugh (18(4) - 0) who hails from Glasgow, UK and Ed MacGuire(8 - 3 - 3) from Edinburgh, UK.  Both Pugh and MacGuire weighed in at 154 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Abdul Arif, and the three ringside judges are Peter MacLaughlin, Andrew Frew and Peter McWethy.  

Round 1: 

Pugh is on target with a cross to his opponents body.  
Pugh lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
MacGuire quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Pugh lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.

Pugh advances into close range and lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs.  Pugh attempts to land a right hook, but MacGuire blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Pugh lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  Pugh holds on to his opponent.  Pugh pushes his forearm into MacGuire's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Pugh to stop fouling.

Pugh is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  Pugh ties up his opponent.  Pugh is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Pugh pivots to the right of his opponent and drives a solid right hook into MacGuire's body.  
Pugh walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Pugh hits home with a stinging left uppercut.  Pugh holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, MacGuire pushes his forearm into Pugh's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns MacGuire.

Pugh manouvers MacGuire into a corner.  Pugh is on target with a potent right hook to MacGuire's body.  MACGUIRE IS HURT!  MacGuire almost instantly recovers.

Pugh throws a left uppercut, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Pugh holds on to his opponent.  Pugh leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref separates the two fighters.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...MacGuire's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Pugh walks his opponent onto the ropes.  Pugh connects with a firm right hook.  Pugh ties up his opponent.  Pugh is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref separates the two fighters.  
Pugh lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body, AND MACGUIRE IS DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 5.  
Pugh lands a right uppercut to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a right hook to the body.  
Pugh stalks his opponent...he just needs the right shot to put his opponent away!  Pugh lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents body, KNOCKING MACGUIRE DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  
Pugh whips in a nasty right uppercut to MacGuire's body.  MACGUIRE HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 8.  It looks like MacGuire has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.
