Aketu Ranana vs Ekara Peri

Boxing Daily Report from the RJS Promotions promoted show at RJS Gym, North Shore,  taking place on 10/03/2029:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Aketu Ranana (5 - 0) who hails from Auckland, New Zealand and Ekara Peri(6 - 10 - 3) from Manukau, New Zealand.  Ranana weighed in at 217 pounds and 2 ounces, while Peri weighed in at 240 pounds and 12 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Rob Horsburgh, and the three ringside judges are Kyle Stine, James Oakley and Joey Bridgeforth.  

Round 1: 

Peri attempts to land a jab, but Ranana slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Peri gets on the inside.  Ranana voluntarily retreats back onto the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Peri accepts the invitation, throwing powerful combos, but is unable to land anything on Ranana.

Ranana lands a right hook.  Ranana throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.

Ranana throws a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps.  Ranana holds on to his opponent.  Ranana leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Ranana's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Ranana is on target with a right hook.  
Ranana digs in a right uppercut to Peri's body.  
Ranana lands with a stinging jab.  
Peri advances into close range.  Ranana lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Ranana is on target with a right hook to his opponents ribs.  As Peri tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Ranana dabs at his face checking for damage.  Ranana has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the left eye.  
Peri closes the distance.  Ranana lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  
Ranana digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  Ranana holds on to his opponent.  The ref breaks Ranana's hold and signals for the fight to continue.
