Ian Purves vs Jack Rondon

Boxing Daily Report from the Bones Promotions promoted show at Pioneer Events Center, Lancaster,  taking place on 18/05/2029:

Clearly Bones Promotions have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Ian Purves (3 - 0) who hails from Manukau, New Zealand and Jack Rondon(1 - 2) from El Paso, USA.  Purves weighed in at 139 pounds and 12 ounces, while Rondon weighed in at 140 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Cruz Arebalo, and the three ringside judges are Dave Carrasco, Obaid Abdelnour and Seferino Cossio.  

Round 1: 

Rondon steps inside.  Purves lands a left uppercut.  
Purves is looking to keep his distance and lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Purves is looking to close the distance and drives a right uppercut into his opponents body.  
Purves connects with a right hook.  
Rondon closes the distance.  Purves pivots to the left of his opponent and hits home with a right hook.  
Purves lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Purves pivots to the side of his opponent.  Rondon tries to land a left uppercut, but Purves sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.

Rondon throws a right hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Purves stands off with low guard waiting for his opponent to launch an attack.  Rondon tries to land a cross, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Purves advances into close range.  Purves sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a left hook.  
Purves sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the head.  
Purves pivots from in front of his opponent and is on target with a stiff jab.  
Purves closes the distance.  Purves lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Purves feints a right hook, and then attempts to land a jab, but Rondon sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Purves leans back on the ropes...he waves his opponent in!  Rondon is whaling away with hooks, but Purves keeps his defence tight.  
Rondon gets on the inside.  Rondon attempts to land an uppercut to the solar plexus, but he strays low!  The ref ignores Purves's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Purves connects with a left hook.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rondon's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Rondon's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Rondon's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Purves dabs at his face checking for damage.
