Jonathan Rao vs Michael Abernethy

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Azerbaijan-Lankaran promoted show at Anatoliy Banishevskiy Stadium, Masally,  taking place on 19/07/2029:

Clearly AI Azerbaijan-Lankaran have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a tournament fight from Azerbaijan-Lankaran 2028 H2H.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on AZTV, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Jonathan Rao (11 - 6) who hails from Nairobi, Kenya and Michael Abernethy(28(20) - 4(4) - 1) from Jackson, USA.  Rao weighed in at 146 pounds and 15 ounces, while Abernethy weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Aydin Aghamirzayev, and the three ringside judges are Ramid Dadashov, Abdul Guliyev and Nariman Jafri.  

Round 1:

Rao throws a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a solid cross.  
Abernethy hits home with a stinging left hook.  
Abernethy feints a cross, and then lands an overhand left followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Abernethy is looking to close the distance and tries to land a left hook, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Rao is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Abernethy feints a jab, and then throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a cross.  
Abernethy closes the distance.  Abernethy pivots to the side of his opponent.  Abernethy lands a left hook, left uppercut and a right hook to his opponents head.  Abernethy clinches his opponent.  Abernethy leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Abernethy's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Rao switches the action to the outside.  Abernethy connects with a sharp cross.  
Abernethy hits home with a telling left hook.  RAO IS HURT!  
Abernethy knows Rao is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  Abernethy lands a left hook, right uppercut and a cross to his opponents head, AND RAO IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  Rao now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Rao is looking to keep his distance.  Abernethy is on target with a jab.  
Abernethy steps inside.  Abernethy pivots to the side of his opponent.  Abernethy hits home with a left uppercut.  Abernethy clinches his opponent.  Abernethy hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Abernethy pivots to the left of his opponent.  Abernethy lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  Abernethy tries to land a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Abernethy sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Rao throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a mean left uppercut.  RAO WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  
Abernethy senses his opponent is hurt.  He is looking to stop Rao and just needs the right shot.  Abernethy lands a right hook, right uppercut and a right hook to his opponents head, KNOCKING RAO DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  It looks like Rao has now recovered from that shot earlier.

At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Rao's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Rao's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Rao is looking to keep the action on the outside and throws a cross, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a sharp right uppercut.  
Abernethy is looking to close the distance and digs in a solid left hook to Rao's ribs.  
Abernethy hits home with a sharp left hook.  
Rao lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Abernethy sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Rao attempts to land a right uppercut, but Abernethy sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Abernethy drives a firm left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Rao lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Abernethy lands a left uppercut.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Rao dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Abernethy DETONATES a nasty left hook on his opponents face.  DOWN GOES RAO!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  
Rao advances into close range.  Abernethy tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Abernethy quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND SENDS RAO TO THE CANVAS!  He makes it to one knee, but is unable to rise any further as the ref counts 10!  The winner by KO is Abernethy!
