Robert Cherigat vs Vul Kirui

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Kenya-Kiambu promoted show at Kikuyu Gachu, Kikuyu,  taking place on 22/03/2030:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  On the line tonight is the Kenya-Kiambu Super Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Robert Cherigat (13(9) - 0) who hails from Kikuyu, Kenya and Vul Kirui(13 - 5(2) - 1) from Ruiru, Kenya.  Cherigat weighed in at 140 pounds, while Kirui weighed in at 139 pounds And 15 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Elliot Icharia, and the three ringside judges are Sam Ngugi, Amon Itote and Jay Karanja.  

Round 1: 

Cherigat steps inside and throws a left hook, but his opponent steps away from the punch.  Cherigat ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Cherigat pushes his forearm into Kirui's face.  The referee warns Cherigat and breaks the clinch.

Cherigat walks Kirui onto the ropes.  Kirui lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  Cherigat ties up his opponent.  Kirui is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Cherigat lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  Cherigat tries to land a left hook, but Kirui parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Cherigat connects with a stinging right uppercut.  
Kirui is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Cherigat lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.

Cherigat pivots to the side of his opponent.  Cherigat tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Cherigat steps inside and lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents head, KNOCKING KIRUI DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 6.  Kirui recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Kirui's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Kirui's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Cherigat gets on the inside.  Cherigat pivots from in front of his opponent and lands two right hooks followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Cherigat advances into close range and lands a right hook to the head, a right uppercut to the body and a left hook to the head.  
Kirui is looking to keep his distance and lands a cross.  
Cherigat steps inside and lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Kirui is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Cherigat lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  Cherigat tries to land a cross, but Kirui sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Cherigat lands a right uppercut to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  Cherigat throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a cross.
