Cole Abbott vs Matthew Goudy

Boxing Daily Report from the AI New Zealand-Canterbury promoted show at Christchurch Isaacs, Christchurch,  taking place on 25/04/2030:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the New Zealand-Canterbury Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Prime, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Cole Abbott (6(3) - 0) who hails from Christchurch, New Zealand and Matthew Goudy(9 - 6 - 1) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Abbott weighed in at 111 pounds and 5 ounces, while Goudy weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Mike Muncie, and the three ringside judges are Kahorere Keno, Dave Pera and Mark Atchison.  

Round 1: 

Goudy tries to land a jab, but Abbott blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.

Abbott steps away from his opponent and lands a jab, cross and an overhand left to his opponents head.  
Goudy advances into close range.  Abbott lands a left uppercut to the body, a left uppercut to the head and a left hook to the body.

Abbott switches the action to the outside and strikes his opponents body with a jab.  
Goudy advances into close range and throws a left hook, but Abbott clinches his opponent.  Abbott leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Abbott's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Goudy advances into close range and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Goudy sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Goudy throws a right uppercut, but Abbott holds on to his opponent.  Abbott pushes his forearm into Goudy's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Goudy advances into close range.  Abbott sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right hook.  
Abbott steps away from his opponent and lands with a spiteful jab.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Goudy's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Goudy's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Goudy steps inside.  Abbott lands a left hook, left uppercut and a left hook to his opponents head.  Goudy wants to work on the inside, but accidentally clashes heads with his opponent!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Abbott dabs at his face checking for damage.

Goudy is looking to close the distance and manouvers Abbott onto the ropes.  Goudy lands a left uppercut.  Abbott holds on to his opponent.  Abbott pushes his forearm into Goudy's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Abbott about fouling.

Abbott lands a straight 1 - 2, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Goudy quickly recovers.
