Dave Hughson vs Peter Ardrey

Boxing Daily Report from the Smokin Joe promoted show at SAP Center, San Jose,  taking place on 12/09/2030:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Dave Hughson (35(24) - 0 - 1) who hails from Oakland, USA and Peter Ardrey(16 - 6(3) - 2) from Christchurch, New Zealand.  Hughson weighed in at 134 pounds and 14 ounces, while Ardrey weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Rhydderch, and the three ringside judges are Rob Prichard, Harry Millar and Patrick Hardie.  

Round 1: 

Hughson hits home with a spiteful jab.

Ardrey closes the distance.  Hughson attempts to land a right hook, but Ardrey parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Hughson is looking to keep his distance and lands a stiff jab.  
Hughson is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Hughson sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Ardrey lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Hughson lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Hughson lands a straight 1 - 2.  He then lands an overhand left followed by a jab to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Ardrey almost instantly gets his legs back.

Ardrey steps inside.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Ardrey dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Hughson steps to the outside.  Hughson quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a jab followed by a overhand left to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS ARDREY DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 4.  
Hughson lands a sharp cross.  
Hughson connects with a firm left hook.  Hughson tries to land a jab, but Ardrey slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut to Hughson's body.  
Hughson throws a right hook, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a cross.  
Ardrey cuts off the ring, trapping Hughson on the ropes.  Ardrey lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.
