Dave Ruane vs Wayne Smiles

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Australia-New South Wales promoted show at Sydney Whitestone, Sydney,  taking place on 14/07/2030:

Clearly AI Australia-New South Wales have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Australia-New South Wales Welterweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Dave Ruane (13 - 3 - 3) who hails from Sydney, Australia and Wayne Smiles(8 - 11 - 3) from Sydney, Australia.  Both Ruane and Smiles weighed in at 147 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Geoff Crafford, and the three ringside judges are George Colden, George McRae and Paul Onanyan.  

Round 1: 

Smiles gets on the inside and drives a left hook into Ruane's body.  
Smiles feints a right, and then is on target with a right hook.  
Ruane switches the action to the outside and finds the target with a jab.  
Ruane sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Smiles is on target with a cross.  
Ruane pivots to the side of his opponent andThe two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Ruane has been damaged by the clash of heads.  That has caused slight swelling  around the right eye.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Ruane's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Ruane's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Ruane is looking to keep the action on the outside.  Smiles quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Smiles connects with a right uppercut.  
Ruane throws a short cross to the body, but lands low!  The ref ignores Smiles's complaints and signals for the action to continue.  
Smiles lands a cross.  
Smiles hits home with a left hook.  
Ruane attempts to land a jab, but Smiles sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

Smiles feints a jab, tricking Ruane into countering with a right hook.  Smiles is waiting for the shot and counters with a left uppercut.
