Mel Christopher vs Dai Pohopohe

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at North Shore Stadium, Auckland,  taking place on 24/08/2030:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Oceania Flyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Mel Christopher (22(2) - 6 - 2) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Dai Pohopohe(14 - 9 - 2) from Waitakere, New Zealand.  Both Christopher and Pohopohe weighed in at 112 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Blake Brown, and the three ringside judges are Robert Haturini, Chris Kellie and Joshua Haile.  

Round 1: 

Christopher closes the distance and lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Christopher connects with a left hook.  
Pohopohe throws a left hook, but Christopher holds on to his opponent.  Christopher is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Christopher to stop fouling.

Pohopohe sidesteps to the left of his opponent and is on target with a left hook to his opponents ribs.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Christopher dabs at his face checking for damage.
