Billy McAlexander vs Billy Abbey

Boxing Daily Report from the Gold Coast Promotions promoted show at Gold Gym, Brisbane,  taking place on 03/08/2030:

There are plenty of empty seats out here tonight, with the show nowhere near close to selling out.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Billy McAlexander (5(4) - 1) who hails from Melbourne, Australia and Billy Abbey(7 - 13 - 5) from Waitakere, New Zealand.  Both McAlexander and Abbey weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is John Taggart, and the three ringside judges are Billy Pryce, Oliver Mullane and Brendan Moultrie.  

Round 1: 

McAlexander tries to keep the action at long range and lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
McAlexander lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
McAlexander finds the target with a jab.  
McAlexander feints a left hook, and then lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.

McAlexander is keeping his hands low...it looks like he wants his opponent to throw first.  Abbey throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

Abbey closes the distance and throws a left hook, but McAlexander clinches his opponent.  Abbey is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. As they grapple, McAlexander pushes his forearm into Abbey's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures McAlexander about fouling.

Abbey is looking to close the distance.  McAlexander throws a left hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  McAlexander holds on to his opponent.  McAlexander leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. McAlexander tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Abbey behind the head. McAlexander pushes his forearm into Abbey's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Abbey connects with a cross.  
McAlexander lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  McAlexander clinches his opponent.  McAlexander leans on his opponent using all his weight. McAlexander tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Abbey's kidney. The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures McAlexander about fouling.  
McAlexander steps to the outside and lands an overhand right followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
McAlexander connects with a solid cross.  
McAlexander feints a left, and then lands a spiteful jab.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Abbey's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Abbey's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Abbey's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

McAlexander steps to the outside.  McAlexander knows Abbey is hurt...he is putting the pressure on now, looking for the stoppage.  McAlexander SLAMS a FEROCIOUS left hook into his opponents face.  ABBEY HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 5.  
McAlexander lands a right uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head, AND ABBEY IS DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  Abbey now seems to have his senses back.  
Abbey is looking to close the distance.  McAlexander is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  McAlexander holds on to his opponent.  McAlexander is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. McAlexander tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Abbey behind the head.
