Jair Gimenez vs Antonio Meraz

Boxing Daily Report from the Handila Promotions promoted show at Santiago Gym, Santiago de los Caballeros,  taking place on 16/09/2030:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Dominican Republic-Santiago Light Heavyweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Jair Gimenez (18(1) - 4(2)) who hails from Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic and Antonio Meraz(12 - 11(4) - 3) from Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.  Both Gimenez and Meraz weighed in at 175 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Baltasar Valladolid, and the three ringside judges are Isidro Munoz, Ivan Laris and Quin Salido.  

Round 1: 

Meraz throws a left hook, but is unable to get through his opponents guard.  Gimenez holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Gimenez pushes his forearm into Meraz's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Meraz throws a right hook, but Gimenez holds on to his opponent.  Gimenez pushes his forearm into Meraz's face.  The referee warns Gimenez and breaks the clinch.  
Gimenez manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Meraz tries to land a left hook, but Gimenez sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Gimenez lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  Gimenez clinches his opponent.  Gimenez pushes his forearm into Meraz's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Gimenez.  
Meraz sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Gimenez is on target with a stinging cross.  
Gimenez gets on the inside and throws a right uppercut, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Gimenez lands with a solid jab.  
Gimenez is on target with a right uppercut to his opponents ribs.  
Gimenez steps inside and lands a solid right uppercut.  
Gimenez lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
Gimenez drives a stinging right hook into Meraz's body.  
Gimenez lands a left hook, cross and a left uppercut to his opponents head.

Gimenez advances into close range and attempts to land a left hook, but Meraz blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.

Gimenez drives a solid right hook into Meraz's body.  Gimenez ties up his opponent.  As they grapple, Meraz pushes his forearm into Gimenez's face.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Meraz about fouling.  
Meraz forces Gimenez to back into the ropes.  Meraz pivots from in front of his opponent.  Gimenez connects with a left hook.  
Gimenez drives a left hook into Meraz's body.  
Gimenez is looking to close the distance and drives a right uppercut into Meraz's ribcage.  
Meraz throws an uppercut to the body, but lands well below the belt!  The ref stops the action and gives Gimenez time to recover.  
Gimenez hits home with a stinging right uppercut.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Meraz's trainer is suggesting ways of getting through to his opponent.  Meraz's trainer is telling his fighter to increase his workrate.

Gimenez digs in a right hook to Meraz's body.  
Meraz tries to step out of his opponents range.  Gimenez feints a right, and then throws an overhand right, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Gimenez is on target with a right hook.  
Gimenez lands a left uppercut followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Gimenez lands three consecutive right hooks to his opponents ribs.  
Gimenez walks Meraz onto the ropes.  Meraz throws a left hook, but Gimenez clinches his opponent.  Gimenez leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Gimenez's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Gimenez quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Gimenez closes the distance and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.  
Gimenez lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Gimenez is looking to close the distance and lands a left hook to the body followed by a right uppercut to the head.  
Gimenez quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Meraz dabs at his face checking for damage.
