Jose Rayon vs Amon Simrell

Boxing Daily Report from the Montreal's Top Gym promoted show at Pavillon de Juenesse, Quebec City,  taking place on 09/11/2030:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Jose Rayon (9(8) - 0 - 1(NC)) who hails from Ecatepec, Mexico and Amon Simrell(8 - 19 - 4) from Mississauga, Canada.  Rayon weighed in at 126 pounds, while Simrell weighed in at 125 pounds and 12 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Elliot Girardot, and the three ringside judges are James Mabon, Aaron Henry and Gower Paille.  

Round 1: 

Rayon is looking to close the distance.  Simrell throws a left uppercut, but Rayon ties up his opponent.  Rayon pushes his forearm into Simrell's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Rayon to stop fouling.  
Rayon steps inside and is on target with a firm right hook to Simrell's ribs.  Rayon holds on to his opponent.  Rayon leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Simrell tries to keep the action at long range.  Rayon hits home with a stinging cross.  
Rayon gets on the inside and digs in a left uppercut to Simrell's body.  Rayon clinches his opponent.  Rayon is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks Rayon's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Rayon lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents body.

Simrell throws a right hook, but Rayon clinches his opponent.  Rayon tries to make the space to throw a hook, but hits Simrell behind the head. The ref separates the two fighters.

Rayon is on target with a stinging left uppercut.  Rayon ties up his opponent.  Rayon leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.

Rayon throws a left hook, but his opponent parries the shot.  Rayon ties up his opponent.  Rayon pushes his forearm into Simrell's face.  The referee warns Rayon and breaks the clinch.

Rayon walks Simrell down, trapping him on the ropes.  Rayon digs in a solid right hook to Simrell's ribs.  
Rayon lands two left hooks to his opponents ribs, AND KNOCKS SIMRELL DOWN!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 6.  
Rayon forces Simrell to back into a neutral corner.  Rayon lands two right hooks to his opponents ribs.  He follows up the attack and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Rayon lands a left hook to the body, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Rayon is on target with a right hook.  
Rayon lands a left uppercut to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the body.  
Rayon gets on the inside and lands two right hooks to the body, and one to the head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  
Rayon lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head, AND DROPS SIMRELL!  He manages to get up at 4.  Simrell now seems to have recovered from the bodyshot.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Simrell's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Simrell's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.

Simrell switches the action to the outside.  Rayon drives a stinging cross into his opponents body.  SIMRELL IS HURT!  Simrell quickly recovers. 
Rayon is looking to close the distance.  Rayon pivots to the left of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a left uppercut to his opponents body, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  Simrell quickly recovers. 
Rayon digs in a right hook to his opponents ribcage.  
Rayon steps inside and drives a solid left hook into his opponents ribs.  
Rayon manouvers Simrell onto the ropes.  Rayon lands a left uppercut to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
Rayon sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body, a right hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Rayon is on target with a sharp left hook to his opponents body.  
Simrell switches the action to the outside.  Rayon connects with an overhand right.  
Rayon advances into close range and drives a right hook into his opponents body.  
Simrell is looking to keep his distance.  Rayon sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a cross to the body, and then to the head.  
Rayon advances into close range and digs in a solid left uppercut to Simrell's body.  
Rayon hits home with a right hook.  
Rayon steps inside and digs in a stinging left hook to his opponents liver.  Rayon ties up his opponent.  Rayon leans on his opponent using all his weight. The ref breaks Rayon's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Rayon closes the distance and digs in a stinging right hook to his opponents body.

Rayon crashes a nasty left hook to his opponents body.  SIMRELL IS DOWN!  He is back up on his feet at 5.

It looks like Simrell has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.

Simrell could be stopped here, if Rayon can find the right shot!  Rayon crashes a DESTRUCTIVE left hook to Simrell's ribs.  SIMRELL IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  THE REF STOPS THE FIGHT!  HE DOES NOT BELIEVE SIMRELL CAN CONTINUE!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Rayon!
