Mick Cowans vs Paul Young

Boxing Daily Report from the Hands Promotions promoted show at National Lawn Tennis Complex, Nassau,  taking place on 24/01/2031:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 6 round matchup are Mick Cowans (6 - 1) who hails from Nassau, Bahamas and Paul Young(3 - 4 - 1) from Nassau, Bahamas.  Cowans weighed in at 147 pounds, while Young weighed in at 146 pounds and 8 ounces.  
The referee tonight is Paul Colville, and the three ringside judges are Dominic Pollock, Kris Priddy and Michael Days.  

Round 1: 

Cowans gets on the inside.  Cowans quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Young lands a left hook.  Young throws a right uppercut, but his opponent slips the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Cowans switches the action to the outside and attempts to land a jab, but Young slips the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Young gets on the inside and is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Young is looking to close the distance.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.    That accidental headbutt has resulted in some damage to Young.  That has caused minor swelling  around the right eye.  
Young switches the action to the outside.  Young drops his guard, and stalks his opponent...he wants his opponent to throw a shot.  Cowans snaps his opponents head back with a ramrod jab.  
Young pivots to the side of his opponent.  Cowans lands a left hook.  
Young advances into close range.  Cowans is on target with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Cowans throws a left hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Cowans sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands a right uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  
Cowans tries to keep the action at long range and lands a solid jab.  
Cowans steps away from his opponent and strikes his opponents body with a cross.  
Cowans lands a sharp jab.  Cowans tries to land a jab, but Young sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Cowans lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Young lands a solid jab.  
Young advances into close range and hits home with a left hook.  
Cowans pivots to the right of his opponent and is on target with a left hook to Young's body.  
Cowans tries to keep the action at long range.  Young feints a jab, but Cowans ignores the feint and is on target with a left hook.  
Cowans lands an overhand left.  
Cowans steps to the outside and lands an overhand left.  
Young closes the distance.  Cowans hits home with a left hook.  
Cowans switches the action to the outside and lands a cross, jab and an overhand left to his opponents head.  
Cowans advances into close range.  Cowans quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and digs in a right hook to his opponents ribs.  
Young connects with a left hook.  
Cowans hits home with a right hook.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Young dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Young's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.

Cowans tries to keep the action at long range and hits the target with a solid jab.
