Santiago Cruce vs Diego Maes

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Cuba-Camaguey promoted show at Camaguey Andrada, Camaguey,  taking place on 25/01/2031:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a mandatory fight for the Cuba-Camaguey Featherweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Santiago Cruce (6(2) - 1 - 1) who hails from Camaguey, Cuba and Diego Maes(12 - 5(1) - 1) from Camaguey, Cuba.  Both Cruce and Maes weighed in at 126 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Senon Linares, and the three ringside judges are Venacio Cornejo, Guillermo Laureano and Nicandro Estay.  

Round 1: 

Maes hits home with a cross.  
Cruce feints a cross, and then lands a jab.  
Cruce lands a cross followed by a jab to his opponents head.  He then lands a jab followed by  two straights to his opponents head.

Cruce is on target with a spiteful jab.  Cruce throws an overhand left, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.

Cruce lands an overhand right followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Maes pivots to the right of his opponent.  Cruce digs in a solid right uppercut to Maes's body.  
Cruce feints a jab, and then lands a sharp left hook.

Maes gets on the inside and connects with a left hook.  Cruce clinches his opponent.  Cruce leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Cruce tries to step out of his opponents range.  Cruce sidesteps to the left of his opponent and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands an overhand left, cross and a jab to his opponents head.  
Maes closes the distance and walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Cruce lands two left hooks followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  HE HAS HIS OPPONENT IN TROUBLE!  Maes quickly recovers. 
Cruce lands two left hooks to the body, and one to the head.  Cruce ties up his opponent.  Cruce leans on his opponent using all his weight. Maes pushes his forearm into Cruce's face.  The ref separates the two fighters.  
Maes attempts to land a jab, but Cruce sidesteps and counters with a right hook to his opponents body.  
Frustration is reaching boiling point for Maes now.   He steps inside, but then strikes Cruce with a blatant low blow!  The ref halts the action and sends Cruce to the neutral corner.    He tells Maes to clean up his game.  The ref's patience seems to be wearing thin.  
Maes quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Cruce connects with a VICIOUS cross.  MAES WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Maes quickly recovers. 
Cruce is on target with a solid overhand left.  
Cruce tries to keep the action at long range and lands a jab to the body followed by a overhand right to the head.  
Cruce lands a double jab to his opponents head.  
Cruce lands a firm overhand right.  Cruce attempts to land a jab, but Maes sidesteps and counters with a left uppercut.  
Cruce switches the action to the outside and connects with a hurtful overhand right.  IT LOOKS LIKE MAES WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!  Cruce tries to land an overhand right, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Some sustained pressure from Cruce could be enough to finish Maes!  Cruce EXPLODES a FIERCE right uppercut into his opponents face.  MAES HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 6.  Maes now seems to have his senses back.
