Neil Villalobos vs Jack Pilar

Boxing Daily Report from the Hands Promotions promoted show at Walter Pyramid, Long Beach,  taking place on 25/04/2031:

There are a few empty seats out here tonight, but this is a respectable turnout for the show.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the USA-California Super Middleweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Neil Villalobos (23(11) - 3 - 2) who hails from Los Angeles, USA and Jack Pilar(14 - 14(2) - 7) from San Diego, USA.  Villalobos weighed in at 167 pounds and 10 ounces, while Pilar weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Robert Juarez, and the three ringside judges are Sean Bowens, Michael Pride and Tobias Brash.  

Round 1: 

Pilar throws a left uppercut, but the shot is blocked.  Villalobos clinches his opponent.  As they grapple, Villalobos pushes his forearm into Pilar's face.  The ref breaks Villalobos's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Villalobos steps inside.  Villalobos quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent and lands a right hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Villalobos is on target with a firm left uppercut to his opponents body.  
Villalobos is looking to close the distance and forces Pilar to retreat into the corner.  Villalobos lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head.  
Villalobos lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  Villalobos clinches his opponent.  Villalobos leans on his opponent using all his weight. Villalobos is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Villalobos's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Villalobos sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Pilar throws a jab, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a firm cross.  
Villalobos advances into close range.  Pilar sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Pilar throws a left uppercut, but Villalobos holds on to his opponent.  Villalobos is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Villalobos's hold and signals for the fight to continue.

Villalobos gets on the inside.  Villalobos lands a left uppercut to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Villalobos dabs at his face checking for damage.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Pilar's trainer is telling his fighter he is being outworked and needs to throw more.  Pilar's trainer is advising how he could stop so many clean shots getting through.
