Mick Purvis vs Beltran Monterroso

Boxing Daily Report from the Smokin Joe promoted show at Stub Hub Center (Football), Los Angeles,  taking place on 17/07/2031:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Mick the Beast Purvis (4(2) - 0) who hails from Georgetown, Guyana and Beltran Monterroso(20 - 12(4)) from Managua, Nicaragua.  Both Purvis and Monterroso weighed in at 115 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Gareth Downey, and the three ringside judges are Lee Copland, Vicente Quijas and Mike Amores.  

Round 1: 

Purvis lands a cross.  Purvis throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Purvis switches the action to the outside and hits home with a firm overhand left.  
Purvis steps to the outside and lands a ramrod jab.  
Purvis tries to keep the action at long range and attempts to land a jab, but Monterroso dodges the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Purvis tries to keep the action at long range and is on target with a sharp jab.  Purvis attempts to land a cross, but Monterroso sidesteps and counters with a right uppercut.  
Monterroso is on target with a cross.  
Purvis tries to land a left hook, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Purvis is looking to keep his distance and lands a cross, jab and an overhand right to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS MONTERROSO DOWN!  He manages to get up at 4.  Monterroso quickly recovers. 
Monterroso lands a cross to the head, a left hook to the head and a left uppercut to the body.  
Monterroso steps inside and is on target with a left hook to Purvis's body.  Monterroso tries to land a left uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging cross.  
Purvis steps to the outside and lands three consecutive straights to his opponents head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Purvis senses his opponent is hurt.  He is looking to stop Monterroso and just needs the right shot.  Purvis lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head, AND KNOCKS MONTERROSO DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 7.  
Purvis lands a left uppercut, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents head, AND SENDS MONTERROSO SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 5.  Monterroso now appears to have recovered from that earlier shot.  
Purvis tries to keep the action at long range.  Monterroso quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Purvis throws a jab, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a right uppercut.  
Monterroso closes the distance.  Monterroso pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a right uppercut to the body followed by two right hook's to the head.  
Purvis tries to keep the action at long range and lands with a stinging jab.  
Monterroso cuts off the ring, trapping Purvis on the ropes.  Monterroso sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Purvis digs in a solid right uppercut to Monterroso's ribs.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Purvis's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Monterroso walks his opponent down, trapping him on the ropes.  Purvis lands a left hook followed by a cross to his opponents head.  
Monterroso throws a jab, but his opponent dodges the shot and counters with a mean right hook.  MONTERROSO IS HURT!  Monterroso recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Purvis is looking to keep the action on the outside and finds the target with a spiteful jab.  
Purvis lands a stiff jab.  
Purvis lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.  
Monterroso tries to land a jab, but Purvis slips the shot and counters with a left hook.  
Monterroso forces Purvis to retreat onto the ropes.  Monterroso is on target with a cross.  
Purvis tries to keep the action at long range and lands a straight 1 - 2.  Purvis throws an overhand left, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a cross.
