Jack Wathen vs Mark Carver

Boxing Daily Report from the Mr. Vicious promoted show at National Basket Ball Arena, Dublin,  taking place on 09/11/2031:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 8 round matchup are Jack Wathen (0 - 0) who hails from Wellington, New Zealand and Mark Carver(4 - 1 - 2) from Dublin, Ireland.  Both Wathen and Carver weighed in at 168 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Liam Ryan, and the three ringside judges are Carl Lyons, Nathan Rafferty and Mike Green.  

Round 1: 

Wathen advances into close range and lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Wathen closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by  two right hooks to his opponents head.  
Wathen lands a right hook to the body, and then to the head.  He then lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body.  
Carver throws a right uppercut, but Wathen holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Wathen pushes his forearm into Carver's face.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Wathen lands a stinging left hook.  
Wathen drives a left uppercut into his opponents body.  
Carver switches the action to the outside and finds the target with a jab.  
Wathen closes the distance and lands a left hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  
Wathen lands a right hook followed by a jab to his opponents head.  
Wathen steps inside and throws a left uppercut, but the shot lands on his opponents guard.  Wathen clinches his opponent.  Wathen is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Wathen to stop fouling.

Wathen walks Carver into the red corner.  Wathen throws a right hook, but the shot is blocked.  Wathen ties up his opponent.  Wathen is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.

Wathen lands a solid right uppercut.  
Wathen digs in a left hook to his opponents liver.  
Wathen lands three consecutive left hooks to his opponents head.  
Wathen pivots to the side of his opponent and lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right hook to the head followed by a left hook to the body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Carver's trainer is advising how he could improve the accuracy of his work.  Carver's trainer is telling his fighter he needs to be more active or he's going to get outworked.  Carver's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.  Carver's trainer is telling his fighter to tighten his defence.

Wathen closes the distance.  Wathen drives a sharp right hook into Carver's ribs.  As Wathen tries to work on the inside, the fighters heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Carver dabs at his face checking for damage.
