Denis Darrieux vs Gerald Guimard

Boxing Daily Report from the Maple Promotion promoted show at Pavillon de Juenesse, Quebec City,  taking place on 29/12/2031:

The venue is mostly sold out with the fans eager to turn out for tonights fights.  
Next up we have one of the supporting contests of this show.  On the line tonight is the Canada-Quebec Bantamweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Fight Network, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Denis Darrieux (11(4) - 1) who hails from Lonueuil, Canada and Gerald Guimard(6 - 7(2)) from Montreal, Canada.  Both Darrieux and Guimard weighed in at 118 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Henry Popkin, and the three ringside judges are Louis Gillespie, Nicholas Prior and Granger Hinault.  

Round 1: 

Darrieux gets on the inside.  Guimard throws a left hook, but Darrieux clinches his opponent.  Darrieux is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref halts the action and breaks the clinch.  He lectures Darrieux about fouling.  
Guimard tries to keep the action at long range and hits home with a cross.

The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Darrieux dabs at his face checking for damage.  Darrieux has come off worse after that clash of heads.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.
