Gabriel Maldonado vs Ramirez Merlin

Boxing Daily Report from the AI El Salvador-San Miguel promoted show at San Miguel Castilleja, San Miguel,  taking place on 17/02/2032:

The venue is completely packed out with the fans turning out in force to watch the fights on offer tonight.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a final eliminator for the El Salvador Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance and those watching live on Canal 17, the two fighters competing in this 12 round matchup are Gabriel Maldonado (11 - 15(1) - 6) who hails from San Miguel, El Salvador and Ramirez Merlin(12(5) - 7(2)) from Apopa, El Salvador.  Both Maldonado and Merlin weighed in at 135 pounds.  
The referee tonight is Juan Vina, and the three ringside judges are Angel Maya, Guillermo Perron and Jose Grullon.  

Round 1: 

Merlin steps inside.  Maldonado throws a right uppercut, but his opponent parries the shot and counters with a right hook.  
Maldonado closes the distance.  Merlin lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  Merlin clinches his opponent.  Merlin leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Merlin's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Maldonado throws a right hook, but his opponent blocks the shot and counters with a left uppercut.  
Maldonado hits home with a right hook.  
Merlin is on target with a firm left hook.  Merlin holds on to his opponent.  Merlin leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. Merlin is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Maldonado steps inside.  Maldonado sidesteps to the left of his opponent.  Merlin lands a sharp left hook.  
Merlin attempts to land a cross, but Maldonado sidesteps and counters with a right hook to Merlin's body.  
Merlin closes the distance and lands a left uppercut.  
Merlin hits home with a sharp left hook.  
Merlin lands a left hook to the body, and then to the head.  
Merlin hits home with a sharp right hook.  Merlin holds on to his opponent.  Merlin is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee warns Merlin and breaks the clinch.

Maldonado throws a right uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging cross.

Merlin pivots to the side of his opponent and is on target with a firm left hook to his opponents liver.

Merlin is looking to close the distance.  Merlin is really starting to turn up the heat!  He senses a stoppage here.  Merlin lands a left hook, right uppercut and a left uppercut to his opponents body, AND MALDONADO IS DOWN!  He beats the count, getting up at 6.  
Merlin slams a spiteful left hook into his opponents body.  MALDONADO IS DROPPED TO THE CANVAS!  He manages to get up at 5.  It looks like Maldonado has now recovered from that earlier bodyshot.  
Maldonado tries to step out of his opponents range.  Merlin is on target with a cross.  
Merlin drives a sharp right uppercut into Maldonado's body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Maldonado dabs at his face checking for damage.

Merlin gets on the inside and lands a right hook to the body followed by a left uppercut to the head.  
Merlin lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  The two boxers are fighting in-close, but their heads clash!  The ref acknowledges the accidental headclash but allows the action to continue.  Maldonado has taken some damage there.  That has caused minor swelling  around the left eye.

Merlin closes the distance.  As the two fighters work on the inside, their heads come together!  The ref does not appear to have noticed the clash as Merlin dabs at his face checking for damage.  
Merlin sidesteps to the left of his opponent and whips in a DEVASTATING left hook to Maldonado's body.  MALDONADO HAS BEEN KNOCKED DOWN!  THE REF DOES NOT EVEN BOTHER WITH THE COUNT...HE'S SEEN ENOUGH AND HAS STOPPED THE FIGHT!  The fight has been stopped!  The winner by TKO is Merlin!
