Alejandro Canal vs Santiago Tio

Boxing Daily Report from the AI Cuba-Holguin promoted show at Holguin Prudencio, Holguin,  taking place on 17/03/2032:

Clearly AI Cuba-Holguin have made a mistake booking this venue with less than half the tickets sold, including those handed out as prizes by Boxing Daily.  
Next up is the main event of the show.  This is a semi final eliminator for the Cuba-Holguin Lightweight title.  

Looking to impress the boxing fans in attendance, the two fighters competing in this 10 round matchup are Alejandro Canal (7 - 7(1)) who hails from Holguin, Cuba and Santiago Tio(15(7) - 1) from Holguin, Cuba.  Canal weighed in at 136 pounds, while Tio weighed in at 135 pounds.    As Canal came in over the weight limit, only his opponent will be able to compete for the final eliminator position tonight.  
The referee tonight is Guido Ocon, and the three ringside judges are Diego Garcia, Angel Prisco and Fresco Carnero.  

Round 1: 

Tio closes the distance.  Tio sidesteps to the right of his opponent.  Tio drives a sharp left uppercut into his opponents liver.  Tio clinches his opponent.  Tio uses his free hand to throw a hook, but it hits Canal behind the head. The referee breaks the clinch and warns Tio to stop fouling.  
Tio advances into close range and connects with a left hook.  
Tio closes the distance and walks his opponent into the corner.  Tio lands a double left hook to his opponents head.  
Tio hits home with a right hook.  Tio clinches his opponent.  Tio is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Tio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Tio is on target with a solid left hook to his opponents ribs.  Tio clinches his opponent.  Tio is using his forearm in the clinch.  The ref breaks Tio's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Tio lands a right hook to the body followed by a left hook to the head.  
Tio is on target with a stinging left hook.  
Canal throws a left uppercut, but Tio ties up his opponent.  Canal is leaning on his opponent in the clinch. The ref breaks the clinch and signals for the action to continue.  
Tio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Canal throws a right uppercut, but Tio holds on to his opponent.  As they grapple, Tio pushes his forearm into Canal's face.  The referee separates the two fighters and warns Tio.  
Canal gets on the inside and throws a right hook, but Tio ties up his opponent.  Tio leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref breaks Tio's hold and signals for the fight to continue.  
Tio lands a straight 1 - 2.  
Tio advances into close range and forces Canal to back into the corner.  Tio is on target with a left hook to his opponents body.  
Tio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Canal attempts to land a left hook, but Tio sidesteps and counters with a right hook.  
Tio lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents head, AND STUNS HIS OPPONENT!  
Tio senses a stoppage victory - he just needs the right shot.  Tio SLAMS a WICKED cross into his opponents face.  CANAL IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He is on his feet as the count reaches 7.  Canal now seems to have got his legs back.  
Canal throws a right hook, but Tio holds on to his opponent.  Tio leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. The ref calls break and the two fighters separate.  
Tio manouvers his opponent onto the ropes.  Tio pivots from in front of his opponent.  Tio lands a right hook followed by a right uppercut to his opponents head.  Tio clinches his opponent.  Tio hits his opponent with a kidney shot within the clinch. The referee separates the two fighters and warns Tio.  
Tio connects with a cross.  
Tio closes the distance.  Tio pivots to the right of his opponent and lands a left hook followed by a right hook to his opponents body.  
At the end of Round 1, lets listen in on the corners...Canal's trainer is advising how he could be more accurate.  Canal's trainer is passing on some tactical advice.

Round 2: 

Tio lands a left uppercut followed by a right hook to his opponents head.  He continues the combination and lands a right uppercut to the head followed by a right hook to the body.  
Canal tries to land a right hook, but Tio slips the shot and counters with a WICKED cross.  CANAL IS HURT!  Canal recovers before his opponent can take advantage. 
Tio hits home with a telling right uppercut.  CANAL WAS STUNNED BY THAT SHOT!  Canal almost instantly gets his legs back. 
Tio closes the distance and lands a left hook to the head, a right hook to the body and a left uppercut to the head.  
Tio pivots to the right of his opponent.  Canal throws a left hook, but Tio clinches his opponent.  Canal is using his forearm in the clinch.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Canal to stop fouling.  
Canal tries to step out of his opponents range and lands a jab.  
Tio is looking to close the distance and manouvers Canal onto the ropes.  Tio pivots to the side of his opponent.  Tio drives a stinging right hook into Canal's body.  Tio holds on to his opponent.  Tio leans on his opponent trying to wear him down. As they grapple, Tio pushes his forearm into Canal's face.  The referee breaks the clinch and warns Tio to stop fouling.  
Tio lands a right hook to the head, a left hook to the body and a right hook to the head.  
Tio lands a double left hook to his opponents head.

Canal tries to step out of his opponents range and lands two consecutive straights to his opponents head.

Tio quickly sidesteps from in front of his opponent.  Canal throws a left hook, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a stinging left uppercut.  
Tio steps inside and throws a right uppercut, but his opponent sidesteps and counters with a left hook.  
Canal switches the action to the outside and is on target with a jab.  
Tio sidesteps to the left of his opponent and connects with a stinging cross.  
Tio lands a left hook to the body followed by a right hook to the head.  
Tio lands a cross to the head followed by a left uppercut to the body.  
Tio steps inside and is on target with a firm left hook to Canal's ribs.  IT LOOKS LIKE CANAL WAS HURT BY THAT SHOT!

Canal tries to keep the action at long range.  Tio feints a cross, tricking Canal into throwing a right hook counter.  Tio avoids the shot and counters with a nasty cross.  CANAL IS SENT SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He beats the count, getting up at 9.  
Tio advances into close range and lands two right hooks followed by a left hook to his opponents head.  
Tio lands a right uppercut to the body, and then to the head, AND HIS OPPONENT IS HURT!  
Tio thinks he can end the show early....he's looking to put Canal away.  Tio lands a left uppercut followed by a right uppercut to his opponents body, AND SENDS CANAL SPRAWLING TO THE CANVAS!  He makes it to one knee, but is unable to rise any further as the ref counts 10!  The winner by KO is Tio!
